Raouf Ahmadi, spokesman for the provincial police chief of Herat province, said on Monday that Sher Ahmad district police chief and four other policemen were killed in the attack carried out in Herat’s Farsi district. Another officer was wounded, he says.

07/06/14 KP: 3 senior Taliban leaders arrested in Nuristan and Nimroz provinces At least three senior Taliban leaders were arrested during military operations in western Nimroz and eastern Nuristan province of Afghanistan. The interior ministry of Afghanistan following a statement said Sunday that the Taliban leaders arrested in Nimroz province were recognized as Mawlavi Abdul Rashid and Sofi Ali Shah.

07/06/14 KP: Taliban leader killed in Afghan intelligence operation in Helmand At least seven terrorists were eliminated following an operation by Afghan intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives in southern Helmand province. NDS following a statement said Sunday that six militants were also arrested during the operation.

07/05/14 AFP: Taliban sets 200 fuel trucks ablaze near Kabul An overnight Taliban bomb attack in the outskirts of Kabul set fire to some 200 fuel trucks that the militants claimed were supplying NATO troops in Afghanistan, officials said Saturday. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement that the group had carried out the attack. Taliban insurgents have targeted NATO supply convoys in the past.

Two children were killed and eight others were injured at a children's playground in Gulraan district of western Herat, after a roadside mine was exploded, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement.
