06/19/14 Reuters: Obama says U.S. ready to send advisers, conduct strikes in Iraq President Barack Obama said on Thursday the United States was ready to send up to 300 military advisers to Iraq and was prepared to make targeted strikes in the country to combat an extremist insurgency. Obama said American forces would not be returning to combat in Iraq. He said Secretary of State John Kerry would leave this weekend for meetings in the Middle East and Europe.

Khalid Hadi Haidari was arrested by police from Kandahar airport based on the instruction of Kandahar provincial governor Toryalai Weesa.

The attack took place in the parking compound of a NATO base near the Torkham crossing on the Pakistani border, near the Khyber Pass and a main supply route for NATO-led forces in land-locked Afghanistan.
