POOR LEADERSHIP MUST STOP!

Five Reasons to Vote AGAINST Castillo!

1. Poor Performance.

While Castillo was Police Chief, gang violence increased 50% in Harlingen, while it decreased in Brownsville and McAllen.  Source: Harlingen Gang Task Force Report To The City.

2. Weak Leadership.

When an accused child molester did not show up in court, he was not arrested. He was the husband of Castillo’s lieutenant in charge of sex abuse. Where was Castillo’s leadership?

3. Red Light Wreck.

Castillo brought us the red-light cameras which cost Harlingen citizens $75 each without having a day in court. The city collected over $1 million dollars from citizens, 1/3 went to a private corporation. $2 million in tickets were never paid by drivers and never collected by Castillo’s PD. (By any measure it was a wreck.)

4. Vote For Sale?

As a candidate, Castillo accepted over $13,000 in contributions, including money from leaders of a political PAC, and from Pat Kornegay, who is not even a Harlingen resident, but who is seeking $1.7 million in public funds which will likely be voted on by Castillo (Who will Castillo serve?).

5. Bad Judgement.

Dan Castillo decided that he could be Harlingen City Commissioner and at the same time, be Santa Rosa City Administrator. He only changed his mind two days before the election after pressure from citizens and candidates. Somehow, he didn't understand that a Commissioner must be 100% committed to Harlingen and no other City. (Good leaders never have to be pressured to make the right judgements.)
