EXCLUSIVE: THE HARLINGEN VALLEY MORNING STAR POISED TO CLOSE ITS DOOR FOREVER!

THE OBAMA ECONOMY HAS FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH THE VALLEY MORNING STAR!  RELIABLE SOURCES REPORTED TODAY THAT THE VALLEY MORNING STAR WILL CEASE OPERATIONS IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE DUE TO A REALIGNMENT OF THE PARENT COMPANIES PRIORITIES FOR THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY.  THREE MAJOR DAILY NEWSPAPERS (BROWNSVILLE HERALD, HARLINGEN VALLEY MORNING STAR, McALLEN MONITOR) AND TWO MINOR NEWSPAPERS (WESLACO MID-VALLEY TOWN CRIER, BROWNSVILLE EL NUEVO HERALDO) WITHIN 70 MILES OF EACH OTHER AND OWNED BY THE SAME COMPANY, FREEDOM COMMUNICATIONS*, JUST DOES NOT MAKE ECONOMICAL AND LOGISTICAL SENSE.  IT IS UNCLEAR AT THIS TIME IF THE STAFF AT THE VALLEY MORNING STAR WILL BE OFFERED POSITIONS AT THE TWO REMAINING COMPANY OWNED MAJOR NEWSPAPERS.  GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE DEDICATED STAFF IN YOUR SEARCH FOR NEW EMPLOYMENT!

Nothing could be further from the truth. The Valley Morning Star is not closing down. It is a vital leader in the Harlingen community, is robust, with a staff that is dedicated and professional.
I would very much appreciate it if this post were deleted, or at minimum corrected, to reflect accuracy: The Valley Morning Star is not closing its doors, is not planning to close its doors and, in fact, Freedom Communications has not now, nor ever, discussed any such foolish thing.
