10/13/12 tolonews: 15 Convicted Afghans Return from Tajikistan Fifteen Afghans who were imprisoned in Tajikistan were handed over to the government Saturday to serve their sentences in Afghanistan. Afghan Ambassador in Dushanbe Abdulghafoor Arezoo said Saturday that the prisoners were sent to Kabul today, following a prisoner exchange agreement between Afghanistan and Tajikistan which allowed Afghan nationals to carry out their jail terms in Afghan prisons.

This operation conducted for arresting of the commander of these Taliban in Kunduz province. It is being said these Taliban were lost their lives in clash with Afghan and NATO forces while making terrorist activities.

10/13/12 KP: 16 missiles fired on Nangahar airabse in E. Afghanistan According to local authorities in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, several missiles were fired on Nangarahr airbase on Friday night. Provincial security chief spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqi confirming the report said at least 16 missiles were fired from Lalmai area in Behsud district.

Foreign Affairs Checking Into Kidnapping Report Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs says it is checking into media reports that a Canadian man and an American woman have been kidnapped in Afghanistan, west of Kabul. A report in an online publication based in the Afghan capital says the pair were taken by a gunman in Wardak province.

10/12/12 paktribune: Drone strike kills 18 'Afghans' in Orakzai A US drone attack on Thursday killed 18 insurgents – mostly Afghans – at a militant compound in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) near the border with Afghanistan, officials said. It was the second US missile strike reported in as many days in the northwest, considered a stronghold of the Taliban and al Qaeda. The attack was the deadliest since similar strike in August last year killed 21 Taliban fighters in the restive tribal region.

10/11/12 Agencies: US soldier in Afghanistan survives grenade direct hit A US soldier has described how he survived a direct hit from a rocket-propelled grenade on his first patrol in Afghanistan, after the projectile bounced off his leg. Specialist Devin Hagar's brush with death came during a patrol in Logar province south of Kabul. His platoon retreated along a river after coming under attack, and were about to cross when his squad leader decided they were in a bad spot.
