PLEASE CALL OR E-MAIL YOUR CITY COMMISSIONER AND MAYOR BEFORE 5PM TODAY (WEDNESDAY) AND ASK THEM TO VOTE "NO" ON ESTABLISHING A GAMBLING CASINO WITH ALCOHOL AVAILABLE IN THE SAME BUILDING ON THE WEST SIDE OF HARLINGEN NEXT TO THE STUART PLACE ROAD FROST BANK ON EXPRESSWAY 83 FRONTAGE ROAD AT 6779 W. EXPRESSWAY 83, CURRENTLY THE HARLINGEN HOTEL AND CONVENTION CENTER.

I urge each city commissioner to vote *"no"* on the issuance of an SUP (specific use

permit-adult business) for a gambling casino (alcohol bar within feet)

within the city limits of Harlingen (west side).

1) No legal established rules, regulations, or ordinances have been drawn

up by the city officials to deal with this type of adult business.

2) The city of Brownsville is closing down gambling casino's due to crime

and corruption,

3) The city of La Feria area has seen an increase in all types of crimes

associated with these establishments

4) Untold thousands of dollars will be spent by the fathers and mothers of

poor children who can least afford to waste their money on these devices in

a desperate attempt to win a few dollars

5) If this one is approved you open the door to organized crime/cartels to

open up game rooms/8-liners all over Harlingen.

6) Some evidence exists that this "proposed" gambling center was operating

illegally from June 2012 onward without the proper approval of Harlingen

Planning and Zoning, Code Enforcement, Police, Fire and without a SUP.

7) Does a local charity like the Boys and Girls Club really want to be

associated with a gambling casino for donations?

8) These people/operations have a way of showing little or no profit thus

little or no actual donations go to the charity (only 5% of the profits are

given to charity-the other 95% goes to the casino owners)!

9) Is this really the type of business you want to draw to Harlingen?

10) Please contact the Mayor and City Commissioners today on this issue
