PRAYER OF THE DAY!

Heavenly Father, thank you especially for those who serve us spiritually: who pray for us when we are perhaps quite unaware of it; who encourage us in the Christian life; without whom we would be infinitely poorer. Thank you, too, for those for whom we hold a similar place: those you have given us to pray for, if intercessory prayer is our habit and gift. Again, the spiritual life is like a web of influences. We never know who is paying us this kind of attention from time to time. Help us to remember that all prayerful activities are part of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Help us never to grieve him, lest we distance ourselves from him. For without him we shall be bereft of all spiritual power. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
